Taking the Con Out of Conflict – Managing Yourself and Others in the Toughest Conversations
No matter what kind of camp you work for, or what your role is at camp, we’ve all had those moments that put a pit in our stomachs. The day is chugging along and suddenly, the phone rings, your email chimes, the walkie talkie blares, or you hear a voice say, “I need to talk to you” and everything stops. Whether you work directly with campers, staff, parents, vendors, etc… there are moments when you must manage conflict, set a boundary, say no, mediate a dispute, or deliver news that you know “they” don’t want to hear. As camp professionals, these moments are pivotal to your success if done well and detrimental to your relationships and reputation if done poorly. Spend the day connecting, networking, learning, and discussing how to take the Con out of Conflict in your role at camp.
The day will feature a keynote session, Quieting the Concerns about Confrontation, by Jay Frankel. This will be followed by 3 separate breakouts, each featuring a camper, staff, and parent-focused session. The 3 session breakouts will be covering:
Technology
Making difficult conversations easier
Building resilience when things are hard
The good news is there is no conflict about signing up! It’s going to be a productive, valuable, and fun day. We hope to see you there!
2024 cost: $95 for members, $125 for non-members
