ACA, NY & NJ offers several different professional services to camps all across the Northeast. Our camp consultants can provide a one-time memorable camp training for your entire staff or more in-depth consulting over several years. ACA, NY & NJ aims to enhance the quality of the summer camp experience by helping camps review and enrich their programs. Our training and consulting services are available to members and non-members.

On-Site Training

Looking to enhance your staff orientation? Or looking to refresh your staff mid-year? The American Camp Association, New York and New Jersey can provide training for your camp staff at your camp all year round. Our experienced facilitators specialize in team-building games and activities, camper and staff management, as well as creating a positive camp culture. All of our trainings are designed to engage participants through interactive discussions and activities while fostering a sense of unity among staff members.

We customize each training session based on your program’s goals, the age and experience of staff, issues from previous summers, and new initiatives being introduced. We are available to lead sessions highlighting one topic, typically 1.5 - 3 hours, or extended workshops that combine multiple areas of focus, approximately 3 – 6 hours. Content is adjusted as necessary to meet the needs and experience levels of staff working with specific age groups or in different environments such as day/resident camps and urban/suburban settings. Our staff coordinates with leadership to ensure that the content and training align with the camp’s mission and objectives.

CPR & First Aid

We also have a team of experienced American Red Cross Instructors who can come to your site and provide a variety of Health and Safety (CPR & First Aid) classes. The all-inclusive price includes all course materials, high-quality instruction, and Red Cross Certifications. ACA, NY & NJ’s courses are informative and engaging, ensuring all participants gain the appropriate knowledge to handle emergencies. We offer very competitive pricing and discounts for members of the Association.

Consulting Services

The American Camp Association, New York and New Jersey provides expertise and professional consulting to summer camps looking to develop and enhance their program. Our team of experienced professionals can focus on the facility, budget, and program, as well as staff training and leadership structure. Consulting services are available to nonprofit and private camps and can benefit day or resident programs.

Our staff evaluates a camp’s current practices and offers feedback, recommendations, and specific strategies for improvement. ACA, NY & NJ can provide a report with immediate and long-term suggestions, and support the implementation of changes. Our team makes on-site visits, meets with key staff, and provides an unbiased perspective in order to deliver a comprehensive evaluation of each program.
