Prepare for a Successful Accreditation Visit

So, you’re having a visit this year? Summer is fast approaching, so it's important that you continue to make sure that your camp and staff are set-up for a successful visit! Here are some quick reminders to ensure that happens:

Communicate with your Visitor

By now, you should have received the names and contact information of the volunteers who are assigned to visit your camp this summer. You may still be missing a member of your visit team, but rest assured they will be assigned soon. If your lead visitor hasn’t gotten in touch with you yet, please reach out to them. Early communication and scheduling is crucial to the success of your visit. Remember, you are coordinating the schedules of at least 3 people, that can take a few back and forth communications.

Prepare your Written Documentation

A large part of preparing for your accreditation visit is making sure that all of your written documentation is in order. Luckily, the Written Documentation Review is designed to help you do that. The document is designed as a tool to allow you and your visitor to review as many written documents before the day of the visit as possible. It is also an opportunity for the visitor to provide feedback on those documents and for changes to be made (if necessary). That way, on the day of the visit they can easily be scored a “yes.”

As a reminder, the Written Documentation Review form can be found here and it must be completed with your Visitor by May 1st. As questions come up, please use your visitor as a resource.

Have a great visit!
