Changes to the ACA, NY and NJ Public Guidance Service

Dear Camp Professionals,

I’d like to take this opportunity to let you know about some changes to the American Camp Association, NY and NJ Public Guidance Service and camper referrals.

In the past, if a family found your camp through ACA, NY & NJ and enrolled, you were charged 10% of the enrollment fee for that child. Starting for summer 2020, the ACA, NY and NJ will no longer be collecting fees from ACA, NY and NJ members for referrals, making our service the only free program helping families find the right camp for their children. We will continue to collect fees for any campers who were placed for summer 2019 so we would appreciate your paying any outstanding referral fees by January 3rd. Camps that are part of other ACA Affiliates other than ACA, NY and NJ will continue to pay the 12% referral fee they have in the past. In order to keep the referrals a free member benefit to members of ACA, NY and NJ camps, you will see a small increase in membership fees over the next few years. Please keep in mind that dues haven’t increased for a number of years.

We are excited about this change and feel that this will help set us apart from other camp referral services as well as give you another ACA, NY and NJ member benefit. Nothing else has changed with our service except the collection of fees. Parents will still be able to find your camp on our website and I will continue to recommend your camp to families. I’ll also continue to work with families who receive overwhelming lists of camps from other referral agents and need guidance sorting through the list.

As always, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Wishing you a very happy and healthy holiday season.

All the best,

Renee Flax
